East Saint Louis, Illinois native Markesha Howlett started dancing at the age of 5. She focused on

liturgical dancing at Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School where she found her passion in Dance Ministry.

She’s been a member of the Genesis Arts Ministry for over 17 years under the direction of Tracy D.

Holliway Wiggins. Markesha attended Lincoln University of Missouri where she danced and performed

with the Lincoln University Dance Troupe. She’s also been a choreographer and rehearsal director for

the Lincoln University Dance Troupe for the past 14 years. She’s trained in multiple genres of dance

including Dunham Technique, Dance Ministry, traditional/competition majorette, West African, lyrical,

modern and Graham. She has choreographed for many dance studios in the Saint Louis metropolitan

area such as the Warehouse Warriors, Ferguson 360, Mistory Dance Company and Without Borders.

Currently, Markesha is the Marjorette and African instructor for the St. Louis and East Saint Louis area

offering dance intensives as well as privates.
